Parents & Advisors

As an advisor, whether you are a member of Sigma Tau Gamma or a member of the faculty at an institution that hosts one of our chapters, one of the ways you can have a tremendously positive impact is to be involved in the education of new members of the Fraternity. Though our collegiate members are adults, there is still much for them to learn, and as an advisor you plan an important role in helping our members grow as men, brothers and citizens.

Advisors are encouraged to participate in the Path of Principles program. The Path of Principles program is much more likely to be successful if an advisor mentors the chapter leaders responsible for implementing the program. The first eight weeks of the Path of Principles program has two basic goals. The first goal is to teach our new members skills that will help them become successful students. The second goal is to give new members an opportunity to “practice” membership in Sigma Tau Gamma. In achieving each of these goals our new members will learn skills that will serve them well both during and after their collegiate experience.

Several ceremonies mark the progress of the new members through the first eight weeks of the Path of Principles program. As an advisor, you are welcome to attend the Association Ceremony and the 4th Degree of Initiation Ceremony. If you are a member of Sigma Tau Gamma, you may also attend the Initiation Ceremony. By attending these events, you can help our members understand the meaning and significance behind these ceremonies.

If you have any questions about your role as an advisor, or if you are interested in becoming an advisor, please visit the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity website.
